Hello Sisters and Brothers, 

2024 has arrived. The new safety training schedule is out and we are currently registering members for the trainings. We are offering 3-Hour Hazcom &  10-hour OSHA, Forklift Safety Certification, Rigging & Lifting, Grade Checking, Lifestyle Awareness for the Construction Worker, and Harassment. We also offer 8-hour crane refresher upon request. 

Safety Trainings must be completed by August 31st. Applications for Safety Incentive will be available by September 1st by getting them off of the Southwest Multi-Craft Website, the Union Hall, or the Apprenticeship Office. Applications are due by October 14th, 2024.

15 new pre-apprentices have been added to our roster for our first interviews of the year. 

Please visit our new Member Assistance Program page for information on ways the Operating Engineers Local 953 and how your health insurance can help you with addiction, depression, anxiety, etc. We are here for our members and we are here for those who are struggling in their personal lives.

If you feel you will not benefit from the training program because of your experience and or training you have already received, you can become a Journeyman with IUOE Local 953. They will make the determination of your Journeyman Skill Level. Some applicants will be sent to us for Journeyman Testing.  

To get on the out of work list you will need: 

  • Pay a $30 Registration Fee & fill out forms

  • Bring in any Certifications 

  • Drivers License/Social Security Card

Construction Crane

OUR GOAL

Apprentices will be trained to take the places of past generations of Heavy Machine Operators, Heavy Duty Mechanics, and Stationary Mechanics. You will be equipped to compete in a highly competitive world, make a good living, and be a credit to yourself, your community, and your country.

Selection of Apprentices under this program shall be made from qualified applicants on the basis of qualifications alone and without regard to race, creed, color, national origin or sex. This Program shall be operated on a completely nondiscriminatory basis.
