Hello Sisters and Brothers,
2023 Safety Training season is coming and going very quickly. Our Hazcom/OSHA's and Forklifts are completed for this year. We had great turnouts for our new trainings for this year. The current trainings we have remaining are Life Style Awareness, Rigging and Signaling, Grade Checking, and Harassment Awareness.
Safety Trainings must be completed by August 31st. Applications for Safety Incentive will be available by September 1st by getting them off of the Southwest Multi-Craft Website, the Union Hall, or the Apprenticeship Office. Applications are due by October 16th, 2023. Veronica and I will be at Semi-Annual Meeting September 23rd at the Union Hall and will be able to help anyone who needs assistance with the applications.
CDL Training is full for the 2023 Training Year. There is a waiting list for 2024.

If you feel you will not benefit from the training program because of your experience and or training you have already received, you can become a Journeyman with IUOE Local 953. They will make the determination of your Journeyman Skill Level. Some applicants will be sent to us for Journeyman Testing.
To get on the out of work list you will need:

Pay a $30 Registration Fee & fill out forms

Bring in any Certifications

Drivers License/Social Security Card

OUR GOAL
Apprentices will be trained to take the places of past generations of Heavy Machine Operators, Heavy Duty Mechanics, and Stationary Mechanics. You will be equipped to compete in a highly competitive world, make a good living, and be a credit to yourself, your community, and your country.
Selection of Apprentices under this program shall be made from qualified applicants on the basis of qualifications alone and without regard to race, creed, color, national origin or sex. This Program shall be operated on a completely nondiscriminatory basis.
